All the elements unlock different infusions, toggled abilities which modify your blast with different effects. Your most important feats are Precise Shot, Point-Blank Shot, Weapon Focus (Kinetic Blast), and for energy blasts Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration. Pump a lot of Dexterity. Equip an Amulet of Mighty Fists.I gave my Sylph dwarf earth kineticist Swift to help offset movement penalties from being a dwarf with Armor in Earth. Smokesoul could be nice for fire, if you want to hide in smoke, fog, haze, or mist. Azarketi are the best imo. They can get char, con, and str at level 1.My real answer is that between 1e archetypes and multiclassing, you could do almost anything, but poorly. 2e allows you to really not suck when doing wild stuff. My current favorite builds are the sterling dynamo monk, and the rippling water stance monk with a witch dedication to get the elemental betrayal focus spell.

I admit I don't really understand how this class works, I found the npc in Kingmaker rather confusing.
