There are 10 levels overall of Tailoring in Project Zomboid. Each level unlocks certain crafting recipes, and you need to gain XP to increase levels. You can disassemble clothes and patch them to earn XP, but there's a faster way. There are a few options to get a quick few levels.You can level up tailoring by repeatedly adding patches, and removing patches from a single piece of clothing. To access the tailoring menu, right click on a piece of clothing and click inspect - note that some items cannot be tailored, such as boots, fireman clothes, and helmets. From the inspect menu, right click on a slot and select add patches.Tailoring 0 give you a roughly 1% chance to get thread from ripping clothes, so yeah it's kinda rare at the lower levels.
